Blackjack no longer has insane level structure quirks, but is still a very tough little bugger. This is aided by it's high hardpoints, meaning minimal exposure.
Griffins spread pretty well and go fast, and jump well. YMMV on firepower.
Hunchbacks tbh, generally have to run STD engines for a reason. Their best defense is their offensive punch. I prefer HBKs out of them, because I can usually outdamage most other mediums in a fight.
Currency would lean toward the BJ as the toughest overall of them, between speed, size, hitboxes, quirks, etc.

BlackJack sometimes can be mistook as a Jager coz of its toughness lol

If toughness means tankyness and damageoutput i would say the blackjack is better. The high arms are pretty good and the quirks give it good dps.

HBK-4P >>> HBK-4H/4G/GI > HBK-4SP > BJ > GRF
The GRF usually runs XL and has HUGE side torsos. It's also rather easy to CT core it and it has HUMONGOUS and squishy legs. The Blackjack is super easy to CT core. The HBK-4SP has crazy durability quirks, but it's side torsos fall off very quickly... and with them all its guns. The ballistic Hunchbacks survive very well, but they're almost worthless without the HUGE TARGET that is their RT. The HBK-4P on the other hand... has a tiny RT, so I feel it's the most durable out of all of these.

With a standard? Griffin by miles. With an XL, BJ due to structure and size.

If SRMs were better, then yes they would need nerfed buy since the 4sp has to get within 270m to do any real damage, they take a **** ton abuse before getting into optimal range. MWO is in a rough state for 270m optimal mechs.
Though at 270, you are spreading dmg every where.

The 4SP is ridiculous. Structure quicks make XL275 a no-brainer. Extra module slots make bump your range out to 297 if you use ML + SRM. Plus it still has crazy twist and no giant shoulders. I run it with MPL and SRM6/A brings the range back down but its more than fast enough for that range to work very well.

and you are stuck using inferior weapons with no range. Not having any range passed 300m pretty much makes the match 11v12.

BJ... I don't like them. Never have. They aren't bad, I just don't care for how they play.
Griffin. I like the misiles but I run XL on them to better BnZ so they don't feel as tough as they could.

the 4P works in burst damage. no CT quirks, usual hunchie RT quirks. STD engine is mandatory for survivability specially engaging the enemy on his left (to minimize hits on RT).
i run mine with 6ML+3MPL STD250 17DHS.
Griffins. I prefer the 3M over Sparky for brawling. it's asymmetric and works like sword&board melee. the sparky needs arms locked all day long.
BJs. after a lot of matches on the overpowered 1X, i'm recently using the 1DC with AC20+5SPL. it's really really funny.
talking about survivability only:
hunchies/griffins/blackjacks
about effectiveness i can't choose. i like em all.

You run that 4SP much in the PUG solo queue? Tell us how you do!
Last time briefly tried to use it I found it a squishy target, as usual.

it has so insane quirks that is a waste with an XL. with a STD250 tanks like a IS heavy. 2SRM6+5ML is enough. the STD gives you the ability to rush the enemy in first line.

Show us some solo PUG queue numbers... I don't buy it, and it used to be my absolute favorite robit alongside the dragon back in closed beta.
I loved that little bugger.

p.s. I want it to be good so give me some hope. I always have a horrible experience when I try and use it (well, a month ago or so).
